Slachtoffers seksueel misbruik bereiden stil protest voor nabij hoofkantoor Jehovah’s Getuigen

Victims of sexual abuse prepare silent protest near the head office of Jehovah’s Witnesses

Emmen – Reclaimed Voices prepares a ‘silent’ protest near the headquarters of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Emmen. That is what President Raymond Hintjes reports.

It is also the intention that Mayor Eric van Oosterhout will receive a manifesto during that moment.

The foundation is set up for victims of sexual abuse within this religious organization. With this action, which is due to take place in October, the platform hopes to get even more attention for the issue. ‘With a large group of people, we want to visually show that the abuse victims did not handle it properly,’ says Hintjes. No quiet trip, but something in that corner. ‘The idea is still fresh. In terms of content, we still have to think about how we want to achieve this. ‘

In the manifest to be handed over the main subject is the subject of sexual abuse and the impact of it. Hintjes would also like to hand over the document to the board of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. “We suspect they will not respond to that. To date, they have avoided contact with us so far. ‘

For the silent protest action, Reclaimed Voices is still looking for an organizer. The foundation is run by volunteers and there is currently too little manpower to put everything in the pipeline. ‘That’s why we are still looking at someone who wants to guide us with that.’

Approximately 300 victims have already reported to the platform. Reclaimed Voices has been trying to engage with the Jehovah’s Witnesses for over half a year. Initially, the religious organization let it be discussed under certain conditions. Last month, the board of the Jehovah’s Witnesses announced that they would refrain from doing so.
